Getting banking work done was considered a hassle back in the day. Today, people can complete their banking tasks without even stepping out of their houses. Thanks to digitisation, customers can access banking services with a mobile banking app.

With the help of mobile banking, you can now open a bank account through the bank’s official app. All you need to do is fill out basic KYC (Know Your Customer) details. Completing the documentation process is also an easy task since the entire process is online.

Earlier, if you were looking to open a bank account, you would have to visit a bank branch at which you choose to open the account, fill up the application form, and submit all the required documents. It took a lot of time. Today, you can open a  bank account online using a bank’s official mobile application. You can upload all required documents online with an online banking app.

Once this is done, some banks have a video call set up to complete the process of opening the bank account. Some banks require you to open an electronic wallet. You can also look for an option to open a zero-balance savings account if needed.

Steps to open an account through a mobile banking

Opening a mobile banking account couldn’t be easier. Most banks only require their customers to have their Aadhaar cards and PAN (Permanent Account Number) cards to open savings accounts through their banking app.

Begin by downloading the mobile banking app on your phone. Next, upload images of your Aadhaar card and PAN card along with your signature on a blank piece of paper. Once this is done, you will need to make a video call with the bank’s executives to complete the process of opening a bank account.

Some banks might have set a different process for those wanting to open a bank account through an online banking app. For instance, you might be required to first open an electronic wallet with the help of your verified email ID and registered mobile number. This next step will involve providing details of your Aadhaar card and PAN card for converting this electronic wallet to a savings account. Some banks might also ask you to upload your photo and have the same mobile number as the one mentioned with your Aadhaar details.

Using a banking app to open a bank account is convenient. However, ensure you steer clear of any fake banking apps. Such apps have similar designs to the bank’s logo and want to collect user information. Using a trusted app store is advisable while downloading a bank’s official app.
